Lives in London
The recurrent themes in my work are the representation of female energy, as well as Indian and Tantric symbolism. It is the secret message behind them that interests me. I switch from spontaneous abstract primordial forms to figurative work according to my moods. My fascination towards the 'soul' revealing itself through the eyes often makes me explore portraiture (either self-portrait or people of my imagination), in order to access emotions and thoughts hiding behind expressions. This is usually done in oil painting. With my Tantric work I usually prefer inks on cotton paper (though not exclusively), and experiment with just simple and instant brush strokes. Photography plays also an important role in my artistic expression, which can become a final statement, or used during my travels as a way to capture inspiring shapes and forms, as well as colour schemes for future projects.
Primarily a painter, I work with oils to obtain a contrast of textures and layers. The process of manifestation and destruction takes an important place in my work as well as the constant tuning in with the higher forces of creation.
The titles I use are part of the creative process, and in many occasions they initiate the work. At times, my technique may involve incantation in a ritualistic approach while working on spiritual themes. Words then filter onto the canvas, as repetitive mantras, and merge as part of the composition.
I frequently travel alone to remote areas of India or other countries to find inspiration, spending many days in silence, observing, while moving from place to place.
